This page is an archive of all the videos I’ve posted on the home page of the site in that little box in the upper right of the page. I’ll try to put little notes about why I think they’re cool – let me know what you think!
Chris Jordan has an amazing way of helping us visualize the role and impact we play in the world. I agree with Ben Fry when he states that at a certain level Chris’s message is somewhat lost in the art and becomes a curiosity. And as such it loses some of it’s strength, and won’t spur people to change their behavior. Nonetheless, his work has made me refocus on getting even better at understanding the impact I have as an individual in what I use and how I go about even the most rote daily routines.
Michael Pollan’s Daily Show interview – just a bit of an update of what he’s up to and a fresh video to the site.
More than just about anyone else, Michael Pollan has dramatically changed the way I think about food. From what I put in to my body, to how food is grown and gets to our table, to how it fits in to our lives from and economic and societal perspective. I highly recommend reading In Defense of Food and Omnivore’s Dilemma. Give this video a gander – I think it does a good job of highlighting not only his message, but great presentation style as well. This fantastically illustrated video is a riff from Thought Bubble on John Green’s original video blog post on his thoughts on the need for healthcare reform. It’s a semi-whimsical, yet realistic portrayal of the healthcare system and debate today. I think that it also boils down a lot of the issues to a point that most people can understand.
A funny take on healthcare reform by Will Farrell and crew. Pretty insightful if you ask me.
